About Harbor Farm

Rocky Pond in Downeast Maine during a stunning winter sunset

At Harbor Farm, we believe the best things in life are still made by hand. Our story began in 1986 in the rugged beauty of Downeast Maine. As one of the oldest wreath companies in the state, we’ve spent nearly forty years perfecting a tradition that is as much about our local community as it is about the holidays.

Handcrafted the Old-Fashioned Way

Maine is one of the few places blessed with the native Balsam fir tree. Its unmatched fragrance is why the finest wreaths in the world come from our neck of the woods. We don’t take shortcuts; every wreath is handmade by residents of the rocky Maine islands and coastal villages of the Penobscot region.

Our neighbors carefully hand-gather fresh balsam, native pine cones, acorns, and chestnuts from the very forests where they live. This ensures the harvesting is done responsibly and sustainably, while helping to support our small coastal community.

A Labor of Love

As the owners of Harbor Farm, we feel lucky to do what we love. While the business keeps us busy year-round, we always make time for fun. In the winter, you’ll find us sledding down our windy, snowy road, and in the summer, we’re out foraging for mushrooms or kayaking in the local waters with our two pups, Mingo and Pants.

One of our greatest joys has been watching our family grow even closer to the business. Our grown child, Clover, moved to Maine in 2020 and officially joined the Harbor Farm team full time in 2025. Having the whole family involved brings a new energy to our work and makes the holiday season even more rewarding!

Sharing the Spirit

Christmas is our favorite time of year. We like to think that when one of our wreaths arrives at your door, it brings a little bit of that holiday joy and Maine craftsmanship into your home. From our family to yours, we wish you many blessings all through the year!

A Family Affair: The People Behind the Balsam

Michael & Mandi Leman – Owners

Owners, Mandi and Michael Leman, posing together in a local apple orchard in Maine

Married since 2007, we traded the San Antonio heat for the Maine woods in 2012 and knew immediately we were home. We are both makers and artists at heart; Mandi is usually found with a paintbrush in hand, while Michael enjoys ceramics, woodturning, and building projects around their woodland property. We live on a quiet pond with our crew of two dogs and two cats—Mingo, Pants, Maya, and Moco—who keep life full of wagging tails and frolicking feet.

Clover Leman– The Next Generation

After moving from Texas in 2020, Clover joined Harbor Farm full-time in 2025. They act as our resident "jack of all trades," handling social media, customer service, and anything else the busy season throws our way. When the rush is over, Clover stays busy hiking and foraging, catching live music, and creating unique art for local makers markets.
