The kitchen has a most interesting combination of hand made stoneware tiles in an extraordinary glaze on the floor and refined looking hand painted Dutch Delft tiles on the walls. Although their characters are very different, the combination is very pleasing — in the way a silk shirt can be combined with tweed pants.

The floor is H.F.’s BP Series Jade. Although the same glaze on all tiles, the color ranges from pale pea green to beet red in a stunning mix. The pattern is a random mix of 3 x 3s, 3 X 6s, and 6 X 6s.

The wall tiles are hand painted Harlinger. H.F.’s TS Series. At random among the field tiles are hand painted ducks, birds, seals, or mushrooms that are common to both sides of the Atlantic.

A special feature of the kitchen is the pot filler over the stove, available from HARBOR FARM. Faucets are polished nickel from H.F.’s RL Series. The tall goose neck one permits bit pots to be put under it in the deep sink for washing. A magnetic soap holder and an installed soap dispenser provide a choice of solid or liquid soap or the opportunity to use the installed dispenser to hold hand cream.

Stainless steel door and drawer pulls are HARBOR FARM’s Quiddity pulls, designed by a member of the H.F. family and exclusively fabricated for H.F. They have thumb indentations in them and are particularly nice to use.
