ON THE FARM

Holly Meade has illustrated many picture books, including the Caldecott Honor - winning Hush! A Thai Lullaby and its follow-up, Peek! A Thai Hide-and-Seek, both written by Minfong Ho. This is the first time she has used woodcuts for a picture book. About On the Farm, she says, "Visiting my grandparents' dairy farm in Maine was one of the highlights of my childhood. I would wake early in my feather bed to the lowing of cows and my aunt Aletha trudging up the hill with a bucket of foamy milk for our breakfast. I wish that every child could experience having the natural world as excitingly near as it is on the farm." Holly Meade lives in Brooklin, Maine.
