We looked long and hard to find just the right lamps for our bathrooms. As in the case of our medicine cabinets, we did not want the lamps to make a statement. Not outstandingly modern, not art deco, not highly decorated. We wanted them to give good light and be pleasant looking. And we wanted them to be of nice quality but not extraordinarily expensive. We think what we found are just splendid, and the people to whom we show them seem to agree. We are ever more impressed with the high level of quality at such reasonable prices.
Two bathrooms have a single lamp either side of the medicine cabinet. One pair has glass trumpet shades, and the other has glass bell shades. We mounted them facing up, but they can be mounted facing down. These lamps are in polished nickel, a metal finish we like very much. They are not offered in polished chrome.
Each of the other two bathrooms has a double sconce mounted over the medicine cabinet. Those have acorn globes, which seem to us to be more suited to the space above the medicine cabinet. These lamps are also in polished nickel, even though the other fixtures in the two bathrooms are in polished chrome.
Some notes on the manufacture of these fixtures
They are made in this country. They are made of solid brass and coated to provide different finishes. This is a company committed to the manufacture of quality products, and to doing so right here in this country.

Quiddity Wall Lamps
Designed by architect Brook McWilliams, a Harbor Farm family member, Quiddity lamps derive the name from the house Brook built for his family in Australia-“Quiddity,” (“the essence of things”).
The lamps are elegantly proportional. Each carries two 25-watt bulbs, one pointing up and one down, which yield a gentle background light to a room or hallway. We have them all over our house.
The shade fits onto a rectangular metal box which attaches to the wall and holds the light sockets. The lamps are hard wired into the house wiring. Shades can be in any of a choice of papers. Those shown are handmade paper. One in muted green, which is in all the hallways of our house. It yields a pleasant neutral color. The other one shown has a light background with petals embedded in the paper.
